JCI North District

Background
JCI North District was founded in 1985 and is one of the 21 chapters of JCI Hong Kong. Through the four areas of opportunity — leadership, business, community and international affairs — it lets young people aged 18 to 40 run projects and live 「服務社會,訓練自己」. It began in North District. As the chapter grew, members came to be drawn from across Hong Kong.
In 2026 the theme is 「心如初士 明向前行」. It is a guide for the year, not only a slogan. 「心如初士」 is a reminder that the easiest thing to lose on a hard road is the reason one set out. However large the challenge, a tough, modest and plain purpose is the strongest defence and the will to continue. 「明向前行」 means not charging blindly at an unknown obstacle. Clear goals and teamwork turn each issue and each challenge into experience, and the chapter moves toward its aim with its direction set.

JCI North District 2026: 「心如初士,明向前行」
This year JCI North District’s theme is 「心如初士 明向前行」. The eight characters are both a guide and a hope for every member. 「心如初士」 asks members to keep the plain, tough and modest purpose they had when they joined; that purpose is the best defence when a challenge comes. 「明向前行」 means not charging blindly at an unknown obstacle. Clear goals and teamwork turn each challenge into experience, and the chapter moves on with its direction set.

The year focuses on older people’s health and youth development.

「疊出耆跡 2026」 uses sport stacking. The rhythm is quick and easy to learn, it trains attention and supports cognition, and it can help slow cognitive decline. Building on last year, this edition adds time together for older people and children. The opening on 8 March brought a professional demonstration. Many older participants said stacking improved hand-eye coordination and also gave them something to share with grandchildren.

「北區明日領袖學堂」 is new in 2026, after surveys found secondary students anxious about careers. It serves North District. Four strands — 「北區掠影」, 「北區建家」, career exploration, and joining a real project — train independent thinking and a sense of belonging, and grow future leaders for the district.

The chapter’s 40th-anniversary design won an Astrid Award. The anniversary animation, 「初心不變 持續蛻變」, weaves North District landmarks with the Jaycee story. This year the film won two further international honours: Video, Nonprofit Silver, at The 2026 MUSE Awards, and Special Project Honors for Video (DVD/Online/USB) at the Mercury Excellence Awards 2025/2026.
「北區明日領袖學堂」 annual recognition and student exhibition
「啟動潛能,共建社區」. The closing recognition and student exhibition of 「北區明日領袖學堂」 was held on 8 August 2026 at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Leadership Institute. Students from 11 secondary schools learned to find a problem in daily life, analyse it and propose an improvement, through training, observation and practice.

On the day, 16 students reported for their groups, from analysis and research to a proposal.

The panel — Mr 羅震豐, Chairperson of the District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee; Mr 計逢時, Chairperson of the District Youth Community Building Committee; and Annie Lee, President of JCI North District — questioned and helped the students sharpen their ideas.

Four reports were sent to the Home Affairs Department for review, and two have the potential to become district projects.

That is the step from “Ideas” to “Action”.
At the recognition ceremony the guests of honour were Mr Law, Mr Kwai, and Legislative Council Member 姚銘, MH. Students who began by noticing a small community problem ended by standing up to explain an idea. The chapter thanks sponsors, partners, judges, guests, mentors, schools, students and parents. The hope is that these future leaders keep going, with courage and skill, and help shape North District.
