JCI Ocean

Background
JCI Ocean was founded in 1986 as the sixteenth chapter of JCI Hong Kong. Chinese is its official language and the membership is mixed. In April 1986 more than a hundred young people from different walks of life joined the Hong Kong Junior Chamber’s 「青年領袖之旅」 to Japan, a goodwill visit and a taste of living there. They came home and founded the chapter that September. The bond had come from the sea, so they took the name Ocean, and set out to develop young people’s potential so that they would become 「今日青商,明日領袖」.
In more than twenty years the chapter has produced community leaders and specialists. It now has more than seventy members and keeps designing projects aimed at social problems still ahead. It is a young organisation with drive and warmth.
2026 is the fortieth anniversary. The theme is 「承先啟後,就正有道」. The board knows that a spirit which is passed on is what opens the future. It will keep Ocean’s spirit and its first purpose, so that forty years of a flame can be handed on, and so that every member can find their own worth in this family: connect leaders, encourage and train leaders, and in the end become leaders in society. The hope for the year ahead is that members move together, with a firm belief and a high spirit, and open a brighter tomorrow for Ocean.
「承先啟後・就正有道」: empowering youth, creating the future together
「承先啟後,就正有道」 is not only JCI Ocean’s theme for 2026. It is a promise to every member, and to Hong Kong’s young people, that more than one kind of success is possible. Over recent months, varied activities have let young people grow by doing and change by connecting.

「Hi! 由零識日本友達 港日交流塾」 was a beginners’ Japanese course for members who had never felt the pull of international work.

It also drew young people who had never met the Jaycees.
Live exchange and games with the sister chapter, JCI Suita, were warm enough that participants volunteered to help host, and the friendship continued.

Ocean is that kind of starting point: newcomers find a place, and learning becomes action.

The 39th anniversary celebration, 「航向四十載」, gathered nearly 100 guests, friends, and sister and friendly chapters from Japan, Taiwan and Zhongshan. A lucky draw of more than ten thousand dollars in prizes kept the room loud. It was not only a dinner. It was 39 years of a flame being passed, and a firm step toward the 40th year.
Ocean still holds to 「服務社會,訓練自己」. Training and a place to practise will keep helping every member become a capable leader.
「由I 到 TEAM:項目管理爆SKILL 營」 and 「幼教生存劇本殺!五秒選項定將來!」
1. 「由I 到 TEAM:項目管理爆SKILL 營」. Many young people now limit themselves in social and team settings because they think of themselves as introverts.

The camp is meant to break that private frame and show the multiplied effect of a team. Two days mix theory and practice.

On the first day, dermatoglyphic analysis is used to look at leadership presence and at how a team complements itself.
Senator Ban Chui, a past president of JCI City, teaches the project framework and the logic of a sharp pitch.

On the second day, Mr Joseph Chan (陳永祥), founder of AsiaPay, and National Vice President Jenny Fong share cross-border management and 「帶人帶心」. Twenty young people took part.

They left with a clear sense of what a team can make, and with a goal of becoming international leaders.
2. 「幼教生存劇本殺!五秒選項定將來!」. Early education shapes character and thinking, and it is a concrete form of the human duties to educate oneself and to teach others. The session treats “teaching” as the core: professional early-years knowledge becomes a way to guide other people and change something for the better. It is not only for future parents. Ms 胡婉珊, with 40 years in early education, leads immersive role-play and short scenes on calming emotions, picky eating, picture books and communication. Twenty-three people came. The point they took away is that raising the next generation is not only giving life. It takes planning, and the duty to educate.
